Is Video Marketing Worth It?  This is a question I’m asked time and again.  Let me ask you..

Have you seen your competitors using video? Then chances are they are not worried about the cost but rather the return on investment

But you might be wondering are their videos worth the cost?  Should you be using video marketing to grow your business?

Let’s be clear about one thing.  The reason many people feel video does not work is that they are doing it all wrong. Here are some facts you need to know:

The average user spends over 16 minutes watching online video ads every month.

More video content is uploaded in 30 days than all three major U.S. T.V. networks combined in 30 years.

To make video work you have to appreciate the power of video marketing.

In fact, most people in the marketing field would agree that video marketing brings a lot of value to the table. This is not the argument. This is not where people disagree. Instead, people have all sorts of misconceptions regarding the costs of video marketing. They can see the benefits with no problem. What they’re unclear on is whether the costs would justify the benefit.

Most video marketing attempts fail the first time

What really clouds this whole picture is the fact that when you try anything the first time around and you don’t have some sort of blueprint of plan your chances of failure are quite high. This is true not just with video marketing, but instead, it applies across the board.

Think about it this way

Maybe you’re trying to ride a bike. Maybe you’re trying to build a house or addition. Maybe you’re trying to do a painting, or you’re trying to learn an instrument. Would your first attempts be perfect?  No, but you probably realize that.  Then why should video marketing be any different? When people just jump into video with both feet because they are all excited about the benefits of video marketing, they might end up making rookie mistakes.  Why?  The answer is simple.  They did not have the proper guidance.


I remember giving a presentation to a group of entrepreneurs.  One person came up to me afterward and said he wanted to start doing videos for his practice.  He was trying to figure out exactly what he should do.  I told him to really get his video strategy on track we needed to sit down and map out what his video marketing strategy.  It wasn’t a ploy to get more business.  You see I’ve been in the business for many years and I know what it takes to get your video marketing strategy on the right track. It comes down to this:

With the proper blueprint or coaching or video marketing consulting, you don’t have to make those rookie mistakes I spoke of earlier. Your content doesn’t have to look amateurish and basic. You can come up with something truly professional the first time around. In fact, it’s not uncommon for small businesses to get out of the gate with really high-quality videos that connect powerfully with their target audience.

Their secret, there is no secret at all. They got expert help.  They didn’t try and go it alone.

There are many ways to solve the video marketing problem

One of the main reasons why a lot of people have this idea that video marketing has to cost a lot of money is the misconception that they have to produce Hollywood or Madison Avenue level videos.

Chance are you don’t have the budget that huge corporations have to make these types of videos, but you do have the budget to have created for you videos that engage and entertain.

One of the keys is knowing your niche.  Break down into sub-categories which your target market is.  For example, if you are a Chiropractor, your niche might be athletes.  You might zero in on athletes who do cross country skiing or bodybuilders.  The point is you have to you’re your niche.

Put simply, the better you know your audience, the more powerful your video can be.

Focus on communicating with your target audience members on a very human, personal, and emotional level.

Another piece of advice. You can drastically reduce your video productions costs by understanding that there are many different levels of videos. At the top of this hierarchy, of course, are high-quality videos. These are very personal, they are professionally shot, and they are your core videos. These are the kind of videos that truly champion your brand,  These types of videos take a lot of time, scripting, editing, etc. and yes the cost is higher for these videos.

The good news

There are video levels beneath this kind of video that are not as quality intensive.

The types of videos I’m talking about are animated videos that grab the attention of your ideal audience.  Creating these types of videos is one of the services we provide for our clients.
